Finishing & Surface Treatment

Polishing, lacquering, plating, waxing, staining, glazing and antiquing are where craft orders are most often won or lost. Finish is the layer that meets the customer, that reacts to humidity and handling, and that carries most of the chemical compliance risk. It is also the step most likely to be subcontracted outside the workshop, which makes it the hardest to audit. Specifying the finish system by name and requiring the same subcontractor across a run prevents most colour and gloss disputes.
