Handicrafts of Ghana: an introduction

For a buyer, Ghana is best understood through what comes off its workbenches rather than how it is organised. The country is known for kente weaving, adinkra printing, bolga basketry, recycled glass beads, brass lost-wax casting and carved stools.

Ask for the finished-piece specification in writing — dimensions with a tolerance, colour limits, weight and finish — and keep an approved sample. That one habit prevents most disputes in craft buying.
